The tremor, the roar, then a scream and an immediate downward slide down the flaming ridge. One more moment, I said to myself, just a little more. We are not really masters of our own minds.
As the sunset melted into the blue sea, I noticed a seagull flying backwards, its wings folded and stretched as if they were melting. The scent spread, like a cloud in the sky, and the rocks merged with the green.
The faint, almost imperceptible sound that increased as the heartbeat increased, like a colourless flame, burning all the pain away. A sweet smile, the hand on my face, the silent gaze towards the people.
